Ok can we just talk about how problematic this is? Like, this legitimately bugs me for some reason, and I can’t fully articulate it, because I’m still putting my thoughts together. But this child is the one who everyone thought was so amusing and precious because she speaks in a way that sounds similar to AAVE, correct? And now she is getting her own show. I don’t know why, but I’m going to assume that it’s because of the whole “Oh how quaint and amusing, little white girl speaking ~like a negro~ let’s make it entertainment for all of America to laugh at because little white girl is so cute.” But… if it had been a little Black girl acting like that on Toddlers and Tiaras, if it had been a little Black girl talking like that, if it had been a little Black girl saying those things, she would’ve been ridiculed. Her family would’ve been criticized to a higher degree than this white mama ever could’ve. CPS probably would’ve taken her away. All of America would’ve been saying “This mama is more concerned about her girl being in a contest, than putting her through school!” and there would’ve been welfare queen comments galore, no matter how false it might have been, no matter how much school she went through. But let a white girl do it, and she’s rewarded with a television show. White people can act like us and it’ll be fodder for a reward, but let a Black child speak in AAVE and on a pageant show now less, and America would be mocking them for the next twenty years, while simultaneously letting them fade into obscurity for everyone to forget about?

Even look at these gifs now, if any Black person had their family on television acting like this, America would be calling them thugs, ghetto, welfare queens and kings and princes and princesses, ghetto trash, niggers, etc etc. But white person does it and it’s funny, and entertaining. Which is also problematic because it really says something about how America views things that are considered to be “Black behaviors” like AAVE. It’s funny that the white girl sounds like she’s speaking AAVE because of course, AAVE is so uncouth and so Black and ridiculous and uneducated sounding, and no real intelligent person speaks like that. And white people are all smarter than those dumb niggers so of course it’s charming when this little girl acts like that. Just so long as she drops it before she’s 20. If she doesn’t, she’ll just be ~white trash~ like her mama, right?

Just… idk this bothers me so fucking much.

This is flat out disgusting. To celebrate this level of ignorance and to exploit these people in the process is sad. I’m sorry… I cannot righteously support this whatsoever. Why we find this comedic or heartwarming in any way shape or form is beyond me.

This really is horrible. I do not get why this appeals to anyone.
